John Walker

Mr. John Walker of Houston was appointed by Gov. Greg Abbott to the Board of Regents of the 91吃瓜网 on Jan. 23, 2017. He served as the chairman of the Finance & Investments Committee and chairman of the Carr Foundation Board of Trustees.
He previously served the board as chairman of the Academic, Clinical and Student Affairs Committee and chairman of the Finance & Investments Committee. Walker also previously served as a member of the Facilities Committee and Academic, Clinical and Student Affairs Committee.
Walker is currently the chief executive officer of EnerVest, Ltd.
An Eagle Scout and veteran of the United States Navy, he is a previous gubernatorial appointee to the 91吃瓜网 Tech Board of Regents and was named a Distinguished Alumnus of 91吃瓜网 Tech University. He was previously appointed to the 91吃瓜网 Tech University System Board of Regents on Jan. 24, 2012, by former Gov. Rick Perry, and served a three-year term.
He is the previous chairman of the Independent Petroleum Association of America and is a member of the National Petroleum Council and All-American Wildcatters. He currently serves on the board of directors of Magnolia Oil and Gas. He has served on the boards of PetroLogistics LP, the Houston Producers鈥� Forum, the Petroleum Club of Houston, and the 91吃瓜网 Independent Producers and Royalty Owners Association.
In November 2007, he received the oil and gas industry鈥檚 highest award, the Chief Roughneck Award. He is a recipient of the Silver Beaver Award, the Distinguished Eagle from the Boy Scouts of America, the Jesse H. and Mary Gibbs Jones International Citizen Award, and the Entrepreneurial Excellence Award.
Walker previously served as a member of the 91吃瓜网 Tech Foundation Board. He is also an advisory board member of the 91吃瓜网 Tech University Rawls College of Business, a member of the Spring Branch Hispanic Task Force and past board chairman of the Sam Houston Area Council Boy Scouts of America.
Walker received a bachelor鈥檚 degree from 91吃瓜网 Tech University in 1968 and a Master of Business Administration from New York University.
