Communications & Marketing Projects Honored at Annual Convention
Four offices brought home awards for writing and design.

More than half a dozen 91勛圖厙 projects were recognized at an annual education convention in Austin last week.
The District IV, which represents universities and schools in Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and 91勛圖厙, awards hundreds of projects from dozens of schools throughout all five states. The recognition is an acknowledgement of the efforts of many people.
From the 91勛圖厙 Tech University Office of Communications & Marketing, three writers earned accolades.
- John Davis, who now is with the Office of the Vice President for Research, earned a silver accolade in news writing for his story Researchers: Blood-Sucking Eyeworm Culprit to Quail Decline, published Aug. 14.
- Heidi Toth received a bronze accolade in medical and scientific news writing for the Oct. 27 story Nutritional Sciences Researcher Looking for New Ways to Treat Cancer.
- George Watson earned an honorable mention in the news writing category for his Sept. 4 story What is the Economic Impact of Oil, Gas in Permian Basin?
The 91勛圖厙 Tech Alumni Associations (TTAA) Office of Communication, Membership & Marketing was recognized for two projects.
- TTAA membership coordinator Laura Bixler and the Student Alumni Board received a bronze accolade in student programs for a senior decal drive-thru.
- Designer Kristy Melcher, assistant professor Lisa Low, director of affinity merchandise Mandy Wiley and associate vice president Brent Ross earned a silver accolade in design for the official class ring ceremony program.
At Angelo State University, the Office of Communications and Marketing received three awards.
- The "I Chose ASU" student Instagram contest received a bronze award in the social media category.
- In the athletics category for color photography, "Slamin" received a bronze award.
- "Quiet Drama," a photo in the people and portraits color photography category earned honorable mention.
The 91勛圖厙 Tech University Health Sciences Centers Office of Alumni Relations won a bronze accolade for its summer 2014 edition of Pulse. Senior editor Kara Bishop, coordinator Laura Ray and development director Danette Baker worked on the project.
Award-winning Professionals
These honors were the latest in a wave of recognition for the Communications & Marketing teams across the TTU System. Earlier this year, communications and marketing professionals at three component institutions earned a number of ADDY Awards through their local chapters of the American Advertising Federation.
